Moving to Win the Ball


Description

In this session we are focusing our our players ability to intercept the ball. The drill begins with the coach throwing a ball up for the player to head. The player then decides to move forward or back. If they move forward, the move through the poles/cones before bursting out to one of the wide poles to intercept the ball. If they move backwards, they travel beyond the poles to win another header. The player returns to the middle after each rep. The drill should for 30-60 seconds depending on the players age, and should be completed at least three times. To progress the drill, the coach can instruct the player whether to move forward or back.
