Intercepting and heading to transition to play forward

Description

In this session we are focusing on intercepting and heading to transition to play forward. The drill begins with the coach throwing the ball either at the players feet or telling them to drop to attack a header. The coach continues to do this looking to test the players reactions. When the coach shouts ‘go’ the player steps up and around the the mannequin/pole and moves onto the ball to pass forward into the goal/gate. The player looks to intercept by stepping towards the ball and attack the header by dropping first. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
