Open out and play to step, drop to head and block


Description

In this session we are focusing on opening to play to step, drop to head and block. The drill begins with the coach passing to the player who looks to move to receive on the back foot, open out and pass back to the coach. The player then accelerates to step out and touch the ball in the coaches hand. Once the player touches the ball they drop to head the ball thrown in the air before back pedalling around the middle cone to then block a shot. The player should stay light on their feet at all times and scan to be aware of their surroundings. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
