Taking the Ball across the Body
Description
In this session we are focusing on our players run onto the ball to finish. The drill will start with the coach, who plays a 1-2 with the player, before opening out and passing to the rebound board or another player. As the ball travels to the board, the player will gradually begin to move inside. The player will then meet the ball and take it into space to finish. The same sequence will take place on the opposite side, so that the player is using both feet to finish. It’s important to time the run onto the ball, as the player doesn’t want to move too early, as they won’t have any momentum to take the ball into space with their first touch. Each set should contain between 4-8 finishes.
